Hi Gang! Though I,m no longer a Coupe owner (now flying my Cherokee 140 with coupled autopilot, etc) I.ve continued reviewing the Couper network with interest and admiration for the great "stuff" appearing thereon.Having read the latest about "Weird Goings On" and Bob Saville's medical problems and ensuing advice given him I am constrained to insert a word of caution.At 87 years (young" I know what a terrible blow the loss of my FAA medical would be and the perva-sive temptation to keep on flying despite the Feds, etc.Its quite normal to find ways to circumvent the beaurocracy but we musn't allow ourselves to forget the WHY basis for flight physicals....SAFETY!!! When deciding whether or not to "hire" or "use" someone else to meet the FAA requirements for PIC purposes it is of the utmost importance to consider the reason (s) why ones Flight physical is no longer valid. Does the invalidation of a flight physical indicate a medical condition which is or could reasonably be considered by competent authority to be incapacitating? .....or is the disqualifying condition merely some minor tech-nicality which the beaurocrats have dreamt up to limit us pilots one more way? This decision requires sinceri-ty and honesty! If its the latter, go ahead and enjoy the greatest privilege on earth----flying---- but if its the former, well gang....there should be only one answer: hang it up and thank the Lord for the years you DID have as a pilot and take pride in the fact that, as a pilot, you were able to put the safety of others ahead of your own interests!
