Just done the same thing, filled the cylinder to the filler plug level and
replaced the piston. Nowhere near 10 oz. but it's up to proper level. Also
installed the 7/16" collar to raise the tail.  To compress the donuts to
get
the snap ring back in I made two steel bars, 5/8x1 1/2x6, drilled 2
(5/16")
holes  ( thru the 1 1/2" side) in each  bar 4" apart. used threaded rod to
connect the bars and placed on top and bottom of strut assy.  easy job to
compress donuts and get snap ring back in place. Since I have the rubber
cup
seals, the proper fluid to use is DOT-3 Automotive.
