You raise vary valid questions, David.
I would also submit more for the American following. Gasoline in the
USA is
a political crap shoot. There are rampent pressures to clean up the air
through
control of the gasoline contents. The Mixture du jour may or may not
cause
your aircraft (or auto, for that matter) engine to fail. The sure cure of
the problem
is to limit the number of cars to the number of airplanes. Then they
could both
burn 100LL with abandon. And it would even clear the LA Air... :-)
