Just received my September FLYING. They published two letters in response to the Richard Collins Ercoupe comments: from Leslie and James (McLean). The editor's response notes that Collins does have personal experience in Ercoupes, flying the Ercoupe during its heyday, including giving flight instruction in 'coupes. The article's statements were based on published government and Beech accident statistics for fatal accidents only. The magazine draws readers to Leslie and James's letters by using an Ercoupe photo (I think it's an Alon Aircoupe?) on the contents page to draw attention to the letters page, and again centered on the letters page to catch a reader's attention.
