----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- This brings up an interesting question. Do you have to have an IFR certified airplane to file IFR in VMC (and with your abc up your xyz. C? ;)? In other words, yawl who art unfortunate enuf to live in wedding cake land, why not file IFR or find a friend who is IFR rated to file IFR and fly yo airplanes out if the sugar icing and into the calm blue yonder? I spoke to a Tx DOT supervisor today about taxiing or towing my coupe to an airport outside the TCA. Cost for permit is $5.00 only restriction is that the aircraft must be towed, firmly attached to the tow vehicle with a ridgid towbar and I must have a vehicle behind the airpalne with flashing lights. It might work if I can find an airport that has tiedown space available.
