Hello to all! I've had an experience that all of you will not want to go thru.My right wing tank started leaking from the revits that hold on the sump drain.I was sure this would be a fairly easy fix.Until I started-- OY VAY ,The whole damn assembly was corroded. When I tried to remove the Banjo fitting which connects the left and right tank on my plane ,the whole set of revits broke off.Now I'm screwed Right? I got a fixable tank from a couper in my old airport that hard a crack in it accross the ridges on the top of the tank.I got it repaired at a welding repair station. I then filled in the lumps and went out to put it on my plane after i painted it.It really looks good.I sloshed it with a white slosh from Super Flite.Let it set up ,mounted it on the plane after removing my floor, brake pedal,interior and that lousy rotten fairing with six million screws with nuts on the inside ( including MOI) what a bitch (sorry Herb)this is not fun.But it gets worse!!!!! This tank "T's from the header overflow and the left main with a 1 3/4" spliced tubing between the new tank and the "T".It broke WE made a new one and it leaks like a sieve.(figures)I flew back yesterday to figure out what happened and it appears that long ago 2-3 hundred years ago someone Rube Goldberged this with horse and buggy fittings so out with the old in with the right stuff.Any way it will be done 2 morrow. I'll need a 2nd job to pay for this. Remember I just paid for a Major overhaul a couple months ago OUCH 2 just landed.But this plane really is a good on e I keep telling myself.Looks great flys great smells good. The jist of the story is: water just does NOT come out of the mains MAKE THAT SYPHON TUBE to get out the water for a few bucks it's worth it.Corrosion SUX.You will be glad you did.
