Since the new year is about to begin I think we should begin promoting the Ercoupe National Convention (the Nationals). For example, the EOC web page could be updated with info from Marvin & Ruth Dunlap on his preparation progress. (Everyone should have an opportunity to appreciate how much effort goes into this effort by the sponser). In addition, Marvin or Ruth could post on the net any ideas they have for Coupers to contribute to the effort via long distance. Maybe a running list could be posted on the web site of those who hope to attend, thus encouaging others to start their planning. Comments on the net on a regular basis would also encourage others to start planning to make the trip; e.g., planned routes could be posted, or interesting stopover airports within 250 miles of Mason-Jewett, etc. Maybe a couple of airports could be identified as designated refueling spots which would draw in other aircoupes. Making intermediate stops with other coupers, even when fuel is not needed, is a good way to meet people and promote Ercoupes. I think the Nationals are at Mason-Jewett (K5) in Mason, Michigan on or about June 21, 2002. Someone please confirm or correct this so I don't lead anyone astray. (Like Conn vs Maryland--private joke :-) Somebody else jump on this wagon with additional ideas. Let's not wait until the last minute or leave it all to the Dunlaps.
