My question is this? Under most conditions, if you turn off the mags, and the engine dies, can't you assume that they are functioning correctly? After all, unless you're one of the old timers that put it in gear and pop the clutch to kill the engine, that's the only way to extinguish it. If you turn the switch off, and it keeps going, that would be an immediate indication of a problem.
