Don't forget to adddres what happens to the AD system.  I don't think it
was
in your proposal but maybe I missed it.  If they stick the plane into an
experimental-like category then perhaps they will give up on ADs entirely.
After all, if the Canadian proposal is as liberal as it sounds, then there
would be no point in issuing ADs or their Canadian equivalent since they
might not be able to make them mandatory, and they sure couldn't enforce
them even if they were.  It is bad enough as it is, with mechanics signing
off planes with outstanding ADs - it could become a lost cause, and that
might not be good on a plane that will be 60 or 70 years old!  I like the
idea of owner maintenance but I think of some people who won't spend $350
a
year including the annual, now they are just going to really be flying
some
trash, which will not help the insurance situation when they wreck.  I
wonder if the ever tighter insurance companies will even insure an
owner-maintained factory plane when they first switch the system over.
