Howdy folks, I cant keep from going out to my back yard where one of my wings sits, waiting to be primed. What a stout little beast the Ercoupe is! Very simple construction- the main spar is actually only .032" sheet metal all the way down the wing. It is stiffened by aluminum channels and doublers on the top and the bottom from the wing attach bolts out to 8 feet. There are 9 ribs total.
Looking at some surface corrosion on aluminum- it shows up as white powdery bumps. You can brush it off with your hand (your hands get white) or some scotchbright. As long as there isnt a pit underneath then you are OK. So far I dont have any pits. The spars are primered with zinc chromate, but they (Erco??) left the ribs un-primed. The spars end up not showing any corrosion at all- wonder why they did that?? I'll keep y'all posted as progress is made. jan zanutto fresno, ca N94893 __________________________________________________________________________ ______ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___________________________________________________________ T O P I C A The Email You Want. http://www.topica.com/t/16 Newsletters, Tips and Discussions on Your Favorite Topics
