List, Here's the most complete information on my restoration log:

415G serial 5021
7/1/00 1. Chandler field- removed wings, brought wings home on
back of
Mitsubishi PU.
Saturday 2. Removed fabric from wings, old ceconite
3. Inspection reveals light surface corrosion on some
aluminum parts,
spars in excellent shape- wont need anything. Plans
are to walnut
shell blast everything then alodine, then
Stitts yellow epoxy
primer
4. Inspection of center section viewed from end ribs-
looks excellent,
all surfaces are painted.
5. Moved fuselage from Chandler field to Fresno airport
SJVC campus.
Nose tire came apart 1/2 way, continued on - wheel assy OK.
7/3/00 1. Removed vertical tails, removed horizontal tail
Monday 2. inspection reveals rudder cables rusted, elevator OK
3. rudder interconnect rods have corrosion, will blast
4. removed prop and spinner. Prop is out of track
5. removed surface corrosion from tapered crankshaft and
prop adapter
6. removed forward cowl. engine baffling needs repair,
prop front seal
needs to be replaced
7. removed bad rear windows. Forward bubble windshield
needs
polishing.
8. only items on engine dataplate are serial #,
Horsepower rating and
max rpm
7/5/00 1. pulled wing fuel tanks- rust on bottom- looking for
cleaner
that works!
Wed 2. disconnected everything from engine- engine left in for
balance
on wheels drained oil- not too bad looking
3. pulled interior out- bottom skin looks good, just dirty
4. center section dirty, but no corrosion, began stripping
paint from
fuselage
5. pulled spark plugs from engine- all 4 cylinders nice
and shiny! No
corrosion plugs are very clean. been sitting
since 1992
6. need to manufacture new cylinder baffles, new hardware
and rubber
7. fuel lines bad
8. throttle and mixture cables frozen up
7/6/00 1. began removing rust from tanks- used sulfuric acid,
works
pretty good
Thurs 2. purchased and received stitts green epoxy primer and
alodine
3. fixed both Grimes B wingtip lights, green glass broken
4. fuselage tank cleaning up but slowly
5. small leak found in left tank, will have to patch or
weld
7/7/00 1. began cleaning out the fuselage tank- cleaned out fast!
Friday 2. removed bubble windshield, will need new rubber
3. applied PRC to the left wing tank- should stop the leak
4. began removing the instrument panel
7/8/00 1. installed used nosetire for movement around shop, has
incorrect
Saturday size wheelbarrow tube- must be removed before flight
7/9/00 1. Removed instrument panel- took 4 hours Sun morning
Sunday
7/10/00 1. Removed engine from mounts
Monday 2. removed all 3 landing gear from airplane- it now sits
on 2
tires
7/11/00 1. Began stripping white paint from fuselage with jasco
stripper. Strips Tuesday pretty quickly. Got the
fuselage about 1/2
done. Scotchbrite cleans it up pretty good.
7/13/00 1. continued stipping paint from fuselage.fuselage about
5/8
done now
Thursday 2. vernier throttle assembly cleaned. Works now. Noticed
ELT
battery out of date
7/15/00 1. Left wing and fuselage transported to Dad's place for
blasting and Saturday removal of fuselage center belly skin.
purchased walnut shells for $14.00
2. began cleaning up all 3 landing gear. Will strip and
re-paint.
Ordering new seals next week
7/17/00 1. ordered new landing gear orings from univair, plus nose
steering Monday ball link $15.00
