Oh brother!! Do we have to go through this again? EVERY wing will stall.
The manner of the stall is something entirely different. I'm with you
Tom,
my book says the same thing, and proves out in practice. Power off I
mushed
through the stall sequence just below 48 indicated. When the wing stops
flying it's stalled, and I don't care what the FAA says. Used to have
this
discussion in my boating circles. When is a hull on plane? Most answers
had
to do with the "attitude" of the hull, not the condition of the wake,
which
is the correct indicator. No matter what our indicator is, if we mess
around at book stall speeds especially in a coupe during the landing
sequence we're in trouble. I kept mine at 80 over the fence, then didn't
look at the AS again. If I was in a short field situation, I started
final
higher, dropped to 75 indicated for a steeper down hill chopped throttle
at
the trees, kept the nose down, rounded out and flared most likely around
65
(didn't look). Had decent landing (nearly) every time. No-one does it
right
every time. Thats why I landed 4 times with 3 approaches yesterday. :-)
Go ahead---hit me!! Have a Merry Christmas anyway.
Doug
