Syd / Warren et al,
My question of ragging Forney wings was largely rhetorical. The reason
why
the Forney ribs would be unsuitable makes a lot of sense. I remember
other
airplane ribs I have seen (for rag wings) always had the raw edge folded
under some 15-30 degrees so the edge wouldn't cut into the fabric. The
bottom line is that Forney made between 250 and 350 changes to the Erco
design BEFORE they built their first airplane. Had they started with a
rag
wing, presumable of the Erco design, I would have a chance. But I am
quite
sure that never happened. Accordingly I am screwed. Now if I could find
a
415 owner stuck with a metalized set of wings screwing up his/her
performance who wishes they could go back.... While I still would have
the
wrong wings I.E. 415-, no one but an expert would ever be able to tell,
and
then only because the ribs had the edge folded under a little.....
