--- Begin Message --- Title: Elec. Fuel Pump SnafuSome asked what the snafu was...I'll try to clarify. It seems sometimes
( but not always ) in flight that my mech. pump stops filling my header
tank. This is not too alarming while flying locally as I always start
with full (6 gal.) header tank. After landing and shut-down, upon
restart pump will again refill header tank?! I was told by another
couper to look for possible contaminate blocking restrictor fitting,
which my A&P and I have done. Unable to find any contaminates, (which
would make sense since restrictor opening is so small, on shut-down
particle would have no pressure to hold it against opening) I started
thinking of adding the electric as a back-up. My A&P and I will again
look for contaminates at next annual, but it would be nice on that next
300 mile trip to the out-laws to be able to just flip a switch to top
off header if the cork falls below half tank! I appreciate all of the
input, some of which I'll be responding to personally. Thank-you all.
