It was 1927 when the Ford Motor Co. placed their first tri-motor airplane
into service haulig freight from Dearborn to Chicago. It was this same
year
that a young engineer for Ford, named Eugene Donovan, patented the first
four-course, loop-type, low frequency radio range. Ford motor company
constructed two ranges the same year, one at Chicago-Lansing airport and
the
other at Detroit-Ford.
The system was so successful that Ford, in the interest of the common
good,
allowed the U.S. Government to use the patent freely with no royalties.
By
1950 the U.S. Government installed over 400 stations throught the country
operating in the 200-400kc range.

P.S.
I WON! (finally) Nobody got this one right.

(I will be out of town for next weekend. Audrean has agreed to fill in
for
me. I think this may be a blessing in disguise. I think it would be a
good
idea to have maybe three guys (or gals) accept the "Sunday Trivia" to
round
things out a bit.
Have a great day everyone!
George Frebert
