Hello,
I was wondering what would cause one to have a
very weak charge? My battery has gone dead twice and I haven't even
flown! It is an almost new battery, but it just seems to be charging
little, if at all. Turning on the nav lights will discharge it. I
drove it around for about 30 minutes with navs and strobes going, and it is
dead.
Well if it's anything like my 3
coupes the gen wont even attempt to charge readily until the engine is turning
1800 or higher. Those cute little gen's aren't designed to produce mych
amperage at an idle or fast taxi. Six two zero charges the best but her
ammeter wont break even till 1850 or so and then wont swing to charge until
2000 or so with the nbav lights on. For my girls this seems normal. Start her
up, leave all the lights off and do a full power runup. If it swings to charge
of 10 amps or more don't sweat it. if it doesn't call me. I have several
servicable gen's and a regulator or two here in the hanger. We will diagnose
it to the gen, wiring or regulator and fix whatever. lemme know.
Can you jump start these things from a
car?
Yes
It went dead while they were ferrying it here
with the lights turned on, and they had to get it jumped then too. It is
a little expensive. 67H is actually in good shape, I just am getting to
think the previous owner put things off as much as he could, then sold
it!
