The wrist pin sits lower in the C-85 piston to accomodate the shorter rod. When you use the long rods and C-85 pistons, the whole assembly is longer. The combustion chamber volume at TDC is smaller, hence the higher compression ratio. He's correct, though, in that it's an unapproved modification. and you'll NEED 100 octane, too.
