The 'Coupe came with two books. One was the POH. The other
was a little manual (still available from Univair) that had the checklists
and lube points, and some good handling pointers.

Still, you need a checklist. I need one to make sure that I've turned
on the gas before I start the engine so I don't taxi ten feet and then
hear the 'Ha ha' sound from the Simpsons as the engine quits.

I like to have a checklist to make sure that I do things like set the
altimeter before I take off, and turn the transponder to 'ALT.'

Of course, the landing checklist is just about dumb. Carb heat on.
I have no working mixture control, and the trim just sets the airspeed,
sort of.

Different people like different levels of detail on the list. That's their
privilege.
