Wayne, The Alons where all OK. As far as the poping noise mine do that
too. So do
the old ones. I think they get a little flex where the gear is.  I think
ALL the
spar caps are rotten on the metal wing 415 Ercoupe.  You do not really
know how
bad they are till you take them apart.   If you do all that I think it is
easier
to just put in a whole new spar. People keep talking about putting on 54
year old
spar caps on their planes,  they should buy new spars. I think you can get
them
from Univair.   You will get the money back on them when you sell the
plane.  If
you keep your plane you will have a plane for many years with good spars.
