I would consider one of the com/gps units.  Unless you really plan to IFR
certify the plane, GPS is more useful than a NAV.

Check out II Morrow (UPS) - they have some very small com/gps that are
very
nice.  They also have a taller unit with a moving map.

King and garmin also have panel mount units with moving maps.

Also some of these units have a built in intercom.  My narco com has an
intercom but it is push to talk operated not voice actuated so I put in a
PS1000 which I am very happy with.
