Joa.....
Warren and David gave you some good advice. There's a world of good
information out there on your subject but it is so voluminous and
scattered that it's almost impossible to list. David mentioned FAA
Publ. AC-43.13-1b. This contains an Appendix relating to "Preventive
Maintenance". This deals with what the owner/pilot is permitted to do
to his aircraft in the way of preventive maintenance. This "list of
things" has been reprinted and published in many difference places,
including Coupe Capers. Every Couper should be thoroughly familiar
with it.

The FAA also published another guideline under it's "accident prevention
program" called "Maintenance Aspects of Owning Your Own Airplane". This
includes the aforementioned list and also includes an "Inspection Check
List" which the pilot/owner can use. It also deals with log book entries
for the items mentioned. Every Couper should have a copy of this
publication. The copy I am looking at is labeled:
                         FAA-P-8740 - 15A
                         AFO-800-0783
It's not dated but the 0783 probably means July 1983(?). It may have been
updated or there may be an even better version available.

As a final comment, I've found it useful to set up two 3-ring tabbed
binders, one for engines, and one for "all other" and save everything on
the subjects. It's surprising what you can accumulate over time.

Good luck......Cliff
