Randal, I wouldn't paint them all with such a broad stroke. I've seen a number of counter-examples recently. Delaware Flying Service in Delaware, Ohio, still hosts the duffer's club on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The FBO office at Mifflintown, PA was full of guys hanging out and making fun of the newcomers' first attempts to land at that scary runway. My home field, Alexandria Field in Pittstown NJ is a very friendly place, run by people who obviously love aviation and really like pilots who fly little planes. It nearly reminds me of Santa Paula airport, where I grew up. Right next door is Sky Manor airport, which also has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and a bunch of guys sitting on the bench telling lies and watching airplanes in between going flying. Greg
