While two quarts of oil may be the minimum to sustain some level of
lubrication it will not provide the necessary cooling nor allow for the
C-90/O-200's higher RPM's and the tendency to foam. That's why most
C-90/O-200's have 6 quart sumps on them from the factory. I'd suggest a
trip
to an engine shop with a test cell where the engines are run for 2-5 hours

prior to being bolted to an airframe. You can see first hand what too
little
oil does to the cylinder temperatures. I can suggest that sometimes we
have
used a shop-vac to pressurize the breather line lightly and using light
soapy
water find some leaks typically around the pushrod rubber seals and also
loose pushrod tubes. We just had an engine with leaks around the starter
and
mags typically overlooked when leak hunting./tom
