Since buying our first coupe in 89, we have came afoul of two different
mechanics one in Southern, Ca. and one in Northern, Ca.

The one up north did the anual on the purchase of N99893... we didn't
complain
and wanted it right and he put a lot of things, more than likely not
needed on
the plane.

Upon it's maiden voyage home on Nov. 1, 1989. there was a smell of gas the
smell
became a wet shoe...

He radio over Napa for a landing and never did reach a tower... he turn
off the
electric and traveled on home with the plane.

Upon examination one of the gas lines had a crack in it missed by mechanic
...
we called said mechanic and his only concern was that was we going to call
the
FAA for it was his neck...

When N6596Q was puchased in June of 91. she had a fresh anual done the
month
before.... must of been a 3 martini, anual for that plane was not air
worthy....
we flew that plane until the following anual... thinking all was well log
books,
said all was well.

Our mechanic, called and said we have a problem.... I went to the airport
to see
what was wrong..... seems that the left ailron had bondo on the inside of
it...
not even attached to the rivets.... this might seem not a big deal, how
ever the
owner before us had owned the plane for 14 years and it was always at the
Santa
Monica, Airport during that time. the same mechanic had done each anual on
the
plane.. Nothing was ever entered into the log books stating a repair...

We were forced to add another ailron to the tune of some 900.00 a piece..

Granted these types of mechanics are far and few between but twice is all
we
need to last us a life time.
