Jim,
Since I am the only one here who has had experience with a 45KT X-wind (at least who will admit to it) and spoken about it, I'll take your little "Then again, I have problems with someone who regularly lands in 50mph crosswinds and belittles others for not being so idiotic. " comment personally and as a rather cheap shot. No I do not land in 45 KT X-winds regularly nor have I ever "belittled" any one for not wishing to do so. I have done it out of necessity. The laws of gravity being what they are, and the lack of air to air refueling did make such a landing a necessity. What the point of telling others out there about this is that it demonstrates the incredible safety margin the Coupe possesses in this particular area, especially in light of all the questions pilots have on the ability of X-wind landings in a Coupe. Oh and BTW I guess I've been going to the wrong polls to vote, I've never seen any FAA official on my ballot. There are those of us who view any agency who has almost unlimited authority over you such as the IRS and FAA as someone to be leery of. When the FAA has the right to over turn a DOT or court findings I tend to be rather paranoid about dealing with them. But I don't seem to be the only paranoid out there, the AOPA and EAA both seem to have a little less than complete trust in them.
