Kim,
The Continental C-85 engine under approval no. TC233 Spec listing E-233-6
provides for installation of either the Stromberg NA-S3A1 or the
Marvel-Shebler MA-3SPA carburetor Part No. 40439.  The Stromberg was
usually provided because it was cheaper; the MS was an option.

To legally change out the carb all you need to do is have an A&P remove
one, replace it with the other, write it up in your log, change the W&B
(am
uncertain what the difference is and won't take time now to look it up)
and
equipment list and go flying.  (Test first, of course).

You should be quite pleased with the difference in performance once you
get
used to having a usable mixture control along with the instant
acceleration
due to the built-in pump in the MS.  AND NO DRIPS!!!
