Steve, The safest thing I can think of in a 415D (but probably not certified for the M10) is the Skyport 30 gal tank mod. It replaces the two wing tanks with two 15 gallon tanks and removes the header tank.
I have copies of 337 from Norvel Dasher (415E) and LaRoy Wright (Alon A2) for removing the header tank and adding an electric fuel pump. I got both these 337 from the Club (Skip Carden) several years ago. The down side is you have to put in an electric fuel pump and if you just remove the header tank (w/o the skyport wing tank replacements) you better be careful about running the wing tanks dry since you only have 18 gal fuel. Clearly removing the header tank makes the 'Coupe a who lot safer in a crash and if a fuel leak develops.
