Lets, not forget that John Denver, was not familar with the plane he was
flying.

He was also talking to a tower trying to get his Mode C to work. He broke
out of
the trees over the ocean at 500 feet in a 1000 foot marine sanctuary.

It is the opinion of several pilots here in Monterey, County that the
tower
killed him.... In the plane he was flying the reaction time is in
seconds...
(use to own one)  he was use to flying his sterman... when he pulled the
stick
to climb on this one he yank it , when he did it looped over with no room
to
recover at that heights. It appeared to go straight in.

The plane had been in the Cooper State Race in Oct with our Aircoupe. with
another pilot at the stick.
