I'll look for the grease, thanks for the information.  I do want the valve
to turn freely, if nothing else.  I haven't heard of an AD, either, but
I'll have a look-see.

My fuel valve IS hard to turn, and doesn't shut the fuel off completely
either.  It leaks at about one drip per second.  I don't have a problem
with a leaking carburetor, so the leaking valve isn't a problem except
when
I've got the fuel line to the carb disconnected.

Why all the leaking carbs?  I don't remember seeing leaking carbs in
anything I've flown.  Wing tank vents, yes, but carbs?  Couldn't that be
fixed with a new valve and seat?  It seems to me that a leaking seat might
be a warning that something else might be up, like a swollen neoprene tip.
That could be bad because it could stick closed someday.
