which town are you in?  I think the best thing to do is to get a bunch of
likeminded pals together and start talking.  You'll find that there are a
few disjointed communities here in the UK. Leeds has the MetSpace
http://www.oldbroadcastinghouse.com/ and Brighton (well Hove actually) has
The Werks - http://thewerks.org.uk/  If you're ever in that London come
along to the Tuttle Club -
http://londonsocialmediawiki.pbwiki.com/NextPrototype so I look forward to
hearing that you've got something going in the South West :)
