it's 14+ years old and still what i use, even earlier tonight sending
out the promo code to a phish mailing list thats 400+ people strong.
It's http://www.phplist.com/

Simple, FREE, open-source, and can handle 100 000 + subscribers. Any
shared hosting account that has cpanel or fantastico actually can
install it automatically with one-click...regardless the install takes
2 seconds.. u just upload the folder, go to the page + then enter in
all your info.. it can also auto-translate msgs, import from just
about every service i can think of (including aweber,
constantcontact, mailchimp, etc..).... and if your site goes down mid-
send....it remembers your place and doesn't re-send emails when it
gets back online.

(you can even run it from your own computer if u download something
like xamp or mamp.. which is just a way to have a local web/email
server on your own computer...instructions are on the website)..
