Adding META.json and META.yml to the distro seems to be all that was needed. (Thanks for picking that up, Karen.)
So far there's only a few results back for 0.54_04, but already I can see that Christian Walde's 5.16.3 Windows smoker (which was one of the boxes not detecting the prerequisites) is now detecting them again.
