Hi folks,

The Computerworld Excellence Awards provides a chance to show them up
north that South Island software shines :-)

Along with the "usual suspects" in innovation, use of IT in
biotech/business intelligence/customer service, education etc, they've got
a new category for small to medium businesses (under 25 staff), regarding
the implementation of IT supporting core internal business processes.

Good to see this area being recognised, given how many of us would qualify
as clever IT-based SMEs!

Details about that particular award category are at:
http://idg.net.nz/cwea/criteria_sme.html

Registrations are taken up to March 21, with final entries in by April 24.

Parties round June-ish to announce nominated finalists in Auckland and
Wellingon (*sigh* maybe if we have enough entries and finalists we'll
shame them into thinking about having one here one day)

Final announcement in Auckland 25 July (and no fine print requiring you to
buy a ticket to the glam event as a condition of entry, unlike certain
other awards...)

Registration form here:

Have a serious think about it -- even if you don't go through with the
entry, writing up a possible nomination is a good way to force an analysis
of your operations and what you are doing, so is a worthwhile exercise in
and of itself. And it would be nice to see lots of Canterbury companies in
with the Elect :-)

Good luck,
Vicki Hyde
