Indeed. This hasn't happened to me yet but I have read several reports of people basically having their server "reserved out from under them" where they can't get onto their own server. The one proposed solution I saw to it was to set an sv_steamgroup, then set sv_steamgroup_exclusive to 1 - this is supposed to prevent people who aren't members of that group from joining the server when it is empty. I tried this, but it resulted in the 2nd person who tried to join the server getting the message from the server that they had been banned from the session. I was the first person on the server -- I joined it from the community server browser, and the 2nd person (my wife) had also tried to join it from the server browser. Same result when I used the in-game steam community (shift-TAB) to invite her to the game. Honestly, while I understand how the whole matchmaking thing might be easier or maybe even preferable for a lot of players out there, I have to say that I really don't think the matchmaking/reservation system in its current state (or at least as I have tried to configure around it) is a very good fit for a lot of people who put the time and money into running their own community servers. Is there not some cvar that you can set that will opt your server out of reservations altogether? I don't mind people (strangers, mind you) "landing" on my servers because they happened to use the lobby/matchmaking system to find a server. But they shouldn't be able to RESERVE it, whether they used the server browser, matchmaking/lobby, or whatever. It's OUR server and we should ALWAYS be able to get onto our own servers. Period. We could really use a cvar to prevent reservation altogether if there isn't one already. I know there are different MM/SM ways to do it for other lobby games like L4D/L4D2 but they weren't always reliable, maintained, or without their own bugs/problems. _______________________________________________ Csgo_servers mailing list [email protected] https://list.valvesoftware.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/csgo_servers
