i would say this has something to do with your
.tab-container {
margin: 0 auto;
margin-top: 15px;
/*background: #928FC5; */
width: 760px;
height: 85px;
}

firefox uses the height - change it youŽll see it moves down. maybe you could work with min-height.
i could not test it right now but it seems for me to be the problem.

How can I get their position to be consistent across both browsers?

I think my problem might have something to do with the JavaScript
show/hide layers thing that I'm using for the search boxes. Thoughts?
