So you cannot reset small-caps (for IE only) and use something like: #nav ul li a { font-variant: normal; text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 0.75em; } The problem would disappear and the look would be the same (I don't think there exist common fonts with real "small-caps", so what you get are anyway uppercases in a smaller size, someone will correct me if I'm wrong...)
