Avant uses existing Trident (MSIE) - the IE7 version in this case.
Check in IE7 - big gaps.
Declare...
#bottomnav {height: 1%;}
...directly - no '* html' hack - and Avant/IE7 will behave itself.
You can then delete the '* html #bottomnav' below '#bottomnav '.
