The page

looks very different from the jpeg image, and on IE 8, it looks very broken
(missing image symbols appearing). Apparently the image
http://thinkplan.org/workshop/pix/johnill.png is missing, and IE is not as
forgiving as Firefox.
The HTML code and the CSS code have syntax errors that are detectable using
available checkers. They should be fixed, but more importantly, we need a
description of the problem (what is expected, and a URL demonstrating an
attempt to achieve that).
