That there is only so much one can do for/in old browsers, is a more
important point here. IE7 and older fail on '@import media', so if one
uses such rules to import stylesheets one can choose what styles those
older browsers shall get access to or not - something I make heavy use
of since I don't regard IE7 to be much better than IE6.

I am often puzzled with the anti-IE6 rhetoric. I have tested both IE6 and IE7 for years against other browser. In some instances IE7 renders worst than IE6. The best way to describe IE7 is by saying it is like IE6 but with the nuts screwed tighter, but when the nuts fly off, IE7 shows the old trident engine as it really is. What was never fixed in IE7 was the bugs that happens when an element had layout or the bugs that happens when an element does not have layout.

This test case surrounds these issue, and it was the real cause of many of the infamous layout bugs.

This bug is not present in IE7 mode in IE9 RC. This I find a disturbing issue since some authors will never know about these bugs.

This test is a very good example.

Instead of seeing pee-ka-boo activity, IE7 mode in IE9 RC completely fails to render the the box with the blue border and it's content.
