Do you believe in the Easter bunny, too? You spout yankee propaganda like
Mortimer Snerd. The states did not lose their individual sovereignty when
they ratified the constitution. The Articles of Confederation supposedly
established a perpetual union--it said so. Yet they all left. The
constitution says nothing about being permanent and New York and Virginia
both ratified the constitution maintaining in writing that they might leave
any time they wished. All the other states assumed they had that right.
Confederates were very loyal to their country, the Confederate States of
America so they could not be traitors. Abraham Lincoln himself, in 1848,
said that any states dissatisfied with the US could leave any time they
wished.
