That's not the point...what I was commenting on is that it seems the DoD
is seeking CIVILIAN doctors for these posts, instead of filling them from
within the Navy, as I presume was done in the past...so the question is,
why suddenly is there a need for CIVILIAN doctors to fill these posts?
Has there been a sudden INCREASE in the requirement for doctors onboard
nuclear submarienes, an increase which the Navy can't fill from within
it's ranks, necessitating expanding the search to civilians? And if so,
why?
And it's not like the DoD is seeking to recruit civilian doctors for just
ANY post within the Navy, but seeking them particularly for nuclear
submarines. Since we don't seem to be whipping out a lot of new nuclear
subs nowadays, why the sudden need for doctors onboard the current
vessels?

Was the Flight Surgeon a civilian?

The snow melts, rising up in mist at dawn;
the fields heave wet brown backs, and winter's gone.
Now winter's crows along the east wind ring
their hoarse black echoes, calling to the spring...
