The Truth, Not reported anywhere that I know of.
When I was a child about 11 years old I had a friend that lived across
the street. There were four children in her family and four in mine. She
only had a Mother, no Father was around, but I didn't ask, I thought he was
probably dead and didn't want to bring up any bad memories. It was a nice
neighborhood, houses cost about $8,000 each for a three bedroom unit. Her
family moved to a new neighborhood adjacent to ours, large homes starting at
$22,000 ( this was in the late fifties). Her Mother didn't work, I wondered
how they could afford this big new house. My Father worked, he left the house
at 6AM and didn't get home till 5-6PM, sometimes later and worked many
Saturdays as well. I didn't find out the truth till I was in my late teens.
Her Father was a hot check writer and had been caught, it wasn't the first
time he had been caught. They lived on Social Security. To me, that is not
right, not equitable that a criminals family should live better than someone
who works for a living and pays taxes. And, that's what the truth IS.
