Very cute story...
And as always, written from the "ant's" perspective, as those who
control all 'the stuff' ALWAYS write the history books.
When the fact of the matter -- if we were to have an ACCURATE story
having ants and grasshoppers reflecting the ACTUAL state of affairs --
the grasshoppers are the ones who have slaved all their lives, just to
have all their property taken away via taxes by the ants....and indeed,
the bug society teaches that it's the grasshoppers' patriotic DUTY to
turn all they've worked for over to the ants, and to complain is not only
NOT being patriotic, risks getting one labeled a 'socialist' or even a
'communist'...
And if any of the other bugs complain about the ants getting it all, and
desire some sort of plan for a more equitable distribution -- indeed,
that they can even keep a goodly portion of what they themselves worked
for -- then the ants whine long and loud, and ask "What about the poor
and the aged and the infirm bugs who can't provide for themselves? We
NEED to take all of what YOU worked for so that we can take care of these
others who can't work..."...when, in fact, the ants keep 99.9 percent of
it all for themselve, only giving enough to social programs to lend
respectability to their theft of what the other bugs have worked hard
for...
