Of course it is propaganda. It is a study of extremes meant to sway opinion
one way or the other. There is no middle ground possible in the story.
CLEARLY in any logical construction the grasshopper would have to have some
responsibility for his inaction, the rich should, for humanity's sake at
least, want to provide for those who are less fortunate than they rather than
hoarding all of the wealth for themselves. The story goes to great lengths to
shatter logic and reason in it's ridiculous approach to a "solution". I
suppose some would say that this is what we have come to in Amerika, but I
would say no myself. The rich do indeed keep getting richer, and the poor get
poorer. One cannot remove the issue of personal responsibility though, and
all things being equal the grasshopper deserved to starve during the winter
months.
