You forgot the partition of Friesland [Frisian language zone] from
Holland and Germany; breaking Germany into its old North/Central
(Protestant) and South (Catholic) dialect areas; splitting Provence
from northern France, Galicia from Spain, Scandia from Sweden, the
North Caucasus hodge-podge from Russia; with Corsica and Sardinia
set adrift, er granted freedom too; and don't forget the Kurds.
And Circassians. Why, just considering the total fragmentation
of Russia into language areas should set cartographers salivating.
Hmmm, CoEvolution Quarterly / Whole Earth Review devoted an issue
to Euro.breakup some years back, but I can't locate that just now...
So. How much self-determination is enough? How much can you handle?
Who determines just what "self" is doing the self-determining? Is
the age of empires & nations past? Will a viable New World Order
consist of zillions of small, homogenous states, within regional
and global organizations? Will those statelets be organized as
cultural regions, bio-regions, virtual regions, industrial zones?
Will such statelets be truly self-determined, or will they be easy
pickings for Corporate States that aren't constrained by physical
boundaries? Are physical states themselves bound for extinction,
replaced by virtual states? How can/do/will humans organize into
groupings that do things impossible for individuals?
How much will the Reptilioids and Republicans let us get away with?
