Or wear it, or use it as fuel, or feed cattle with it, or apply it as
fertilizer? -- if it's HEMP we're talking about here. Sure would, if not for
Big Oil's anti-hemp conspiracy. (While honeymooning in Kauai a decade ago,
I met the "Luther Burbank of Hawaii" who was working to save the state's
economy from profitless dependence on the sugar crop by growing fields of the
Chinese tallow plant, whose berry resin substitutes for petroleum and whose
components can be used for a variety of things, as is the case with hemp.)
But if you're referring to the psychoactive Cannabis: been there, done that
-- just as the Goat, if it really matters, has already "been there, done
that" with regard to many other frequently* productive avenues of
de-conditioning one's culturally and idiosycratically conditioned frame of
reference -- besides psychedelics, hypnosis (a field of thorough research and
even teaching for awhile in the early '70s, and a few times called in to
advise others in "deprogramming"), biofeedback (briefly a "star" test subject
for "alpha" expert Dr Joe Kamiya at Langley Porter Neruropsychiatric
Institute at UCSF Med Center here in San Francisco), sensory deprivation
(once did 8 hours straight in a Lilly tank -- rather boring), Jungian
"Creative Imagination" (a technique for evoking "archetypes," often with
profound reactions from the unconscious), "self-actualization"-oriented group
therapy (rose to de facto "facilitator" in one group in Chicago; once
intended to become a psychotherapist, before abandoning the field in disgust
in 1991, only 11 units short of a degree), lucid dreaming (toward mapping the
mechanism of "reality simulation" in dreams), astrology (focusing on the
correlation between long-term outer-planet cycles and recurring themes in
history; responsible in 1972 for the first 3000-year outer-planet ephemeris,
computerized from elements provided by the US Naval Weapons Research Lab in
Maryland) ... along with a variety of spiritual exercises (from Christianity
[almost became a priest], Kabbalah and Sufism, martial arts, Zen, Taoism,
Tantra, Kundalini yoga, the Gurdjieff Work, "ceremonial magic," etc) to one
degree or another, in my own heuristic fashion -- all in the interests of
greater (dual-hemispheric, figure AND ground) CONSCIOUSNESS without any
"unconscious."
And all this, mind you, before the formation of the modern "New Age"
marketplace, before many (?) of CTRL's subscribers were even born ...
But I take your comment as HUMOROUS in nature, and I'm chortling too at the
thought
of anyone taking the word of the Goat --here just one voice out of many, mind
you, and a grumpy old fart's voice much of the time-- TOO seriously. Use
your own judgment, "Question authority," and "Trust no one," not even ME.
Apply your own mind to weigh
the truth (or probability of truth) or falsehood of what is said -- never
mind WHO said it.
(Hopefully a broad base of knowledge plus my experience counts for
_something_, but even that's no guarantee of "truth" -- often with people I
find that a so-called "lifetime of experience" is in actuality only a few
years of experience defended across a lifetime ...)
"If you meet the Buddha on the road, KILL him." Figuratively speaking,
that's the only
appropriate thing to do. So if anyone puts the GOAT on a pedestal -- Roast
the Goat!
