# 3 Russian men take second wives. MOSCOW (AP) Three men in a predominantly
Muslim republic have taken second wives since polygamy was declared legal
last month by the regional leader. Pres. Ruslan Aushev of the southern
Russian republic of Ingushetia decreed that men could legally take up to
four wives, in line with Islamic tradition. Russia's Justice Ministry said
the decree contradicted federal law and should be rescinded, but Aushev
has remained defiant. Three men in Ingushetia have taken advantage of the
decree. No details were reported on the men or their wives. ###
