Joshua, I used to have some connection with State, and I can assure you that
if you want an ambassador for a large and important country, you had better
look for a rich man who will take the job.  If you're really lucky, you can
find a rich man with a few brains as well.  It takes a rich man to have
enough personal money to add to the Government allowances to be able to do
the job.  There's a reason that professional diplomats only get the small
countries, and it's not because the president and congress are trying to do
nice things for their friends.   Prudy
