You're right.  It's sad.  But the voters complain about even the White House
having functions for foreign dignitaries.  FDR could invite them out on the
presidential yacht, but that's gone too.   Eleanor Roosevelt traveled
constantly, and nobody said a word, but the people are very money conscious
now, and every move Hillary has made to visit other countries has been
roundly criticized.  I don't think there will ever be proper funding for
career diplomats to hold large posts.  Prudy
