They physically assaulted the king's tax collectors, tarring and
feathering some, whipping some, pouring hot tea down the throats of
others. They wantonly destroyed private property, most notably (but not
only) the tea in Boston Harbor. When troops came to disarm them, they
killed as many of those troops as they could and drove the rest out.
How do y'all think that sort of behavior would go over today?
More to the point, what would happen if every gay bashing was met in kind,
preferably on the spot, preferably by the (attempted) bashee? If I were
gay and you attempted to bash me for it, I'd kill your ass dead on the
spot. In fact, if you attempt to bash me for any reason whatsoever, your
short, sorry life is over then and there; capiesc'? As far as I'm
concerned, that's the only intelligent way to deal with the problem. If
Matthew Shepard had carried a gun, he'd be alive today. There is an active
war going on against homosexuals in this country. Homosexuals, and people
mistakenly believed to be homosexuals, are being regularly murdered in
cold blood. There is no appropriate response to being warred upon other
than to make war back.
Yet homophobes complain because they have to look at rainbow flags and
purple triangles!?! Gimme a break. They're lucky nobody kicks their
rude-ass butts, because that's what they deserve at the very least. Bigots
in general deserved to be slapped down, physically if necessary, whenever
they attack any segment of our population. We are a diverse species, but
we're all human and we all oughta stick together. An injury to one is an
injury to all. The only moral response to seeing our fellow human beings
attacked by vicious aggressors is to defend them by what ever means
necessary.
>Yes, it's interesting that the same people who complain about "the
sheeple" then turn around and argue for certain groups remaining silent
and not rocking the boat . . .
Most people are willing to accept people of other races and persuasions,
but only as long as these people dress, talk, act, work and worship like
they do. Some people call this bigotry. Other's say that it is not bigotry
at all but acceptance. I say it's just plain old, every day, garden
variety vanity. "The more like me," these people are saying in effect,
"The better they are." Vanity, that's all it is. Vanity.
Personally, I don't feel this way. I like the way I live. I wouldn't live
any other way. But that's no reason you should live the way I do. If
everyone lived the way I do nobody would ever eat another sandwich because
I'm neither a butcher nor a baker. It is good that we differ. Diversity is
a proven biological survival trait. The more we differ, the better able we
are to cope with new threats and challenges. This is true of all species,
ours not the least.
In American culture the vast overwhelming majority of gays do in fact keep
their mouths shut and act like everybody else. Everyone, rabid homophobes
included, has gay friends, gay work mates and gay neighbors. They just
don't realize it, that's all, because nobody bothers to tell them and they
aren't cognizant enough to figure it out on their own. Perhaps this is
because they have been so brainwashed by their religion that they can't
think or percieve clearly. Or maybe they're just stupid. Either way, they
are clueless to what some of the people in their lives do when they aren't
watching.
Homosexuality is part of life, and not just the life of our species,
either, not by a long shot. My dog has a boy friend, for example. They
love each other. I saw a picture in National Geographic of two male octopi
having sex. Not only were they both male, they were of different species.
But there they were, doing it. Homosexuality is part of nature's way. At
the very least, roughly ten percent of humanity is gay. That's how it is.
Get used to it.
